Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Allan Wagner has affirmed that the Transition and Emergency Government fulfilled the goal of securing enough vaccines for the population, despite the fact that there was high demand and competition around the world to acquire doses against COVID-19.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs actively supported the Ministry of Health, with a view to ensuring that all Peruvians are eligible to receive a vaccine by the end of this year at the latest," Wagner expressed.

"This goal was widely met, despite being conditioned by the wide demand, the limited global availability of vaccines, and the unequal competition involving more developed countries that had early secured most of the vaccines available around the world," he indicated.

Likewise, the diplomat affirmed that more than 65 million doses and 10 million Sputnik V two-component vaccines (20 million doses) have been contracted so far leading to a total of 85 million doses.

Remarks were made at the Transfer with Transparency press conference held at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) on Thursday.
