Peru's President: Acquisition of 20 million Sputnik V vaccines shows commitment to health

The President of the Republic Francisco Sagasti on Tuesday affirmed that signing the agreement with the Russian Direct Investment Fund for the supply of 20 million Sputnik V vaccines proves the Government's commitment to the health and well-being of all citizens.

"We have signed an agreement with the Russian Direct Investment Fund, which represents the Gamaleya Laboratory, for the supply of 20 million doses of the Sputnik V vaccine, which will allow us to immunize 10 million Peruvians. We thus demonstrate our commitment to the health and well-being of everyone," the Head of State said in a message posted on Twitter.

Likewise, the top official affirmed that his administration will continue working until the last day of the Transition and Emergency Government in office (July 28, 2021) to ensure the largest number of vaccines possible.

In this sense, the Peruvian Government announced that it has signed an agreement with the subsidiary of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) for the acquisition of Sputnik V vaccines.

Within this framework, the statesman said his administration is making progress on setting the schedule for the delivery of Russian vaccines.

The President also affirmed that the agreement for the acquisition of these doses prove the Government's intention to work and continue working until the last minute in office to ensure that all Peruvians are protected against COVID-19.
