Peru: Social organizations, groups march in Lima and provinces

To express their stance on the current situation, civil-social organizations and groups marched through the main streets of downtown Lima and other Peruvian provinces on Wednesday.

The event is also known as "La Toma de Lima" (Takeover of Lima).

Its participants expressed their opposition to the management by Congress and the Executive Branch.

Since the early hours of Wednesday, a group of protesters gathered near Plaza San Martin (San Martin Square) in downtown Lima.

In the afternoon, the demonstrators gathered at Plaza Dos de Mayo (May 2nd Roundabout).

The march began at 4:20 p.m. (local time). Demonstration participants moved along Avenida La Colmena (Colmena Avenue) on route to Plaza San Martin.

Mobilizations were also registered at different squares and on main streets of other Peruvian regions.

The demonstrators carried various placards, Peruvian flags, and signs.
