Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra noted on Monday that the youth are the first and main supporters of the
policies proposed by his administration in order to bring about substantial changes to
reach the Bicentennial as a renewed country.
"After a year and a half in office, we have developed and executed proposals for change, such as
policies to combat corruption, and our supporters have been the young people, who have come together. They have supported and sustained our demand for a change in attitude," the statesman said as he introduced the National Youth Policy at the Government Palace in Lima.
"You are the engine of important proposals; you are the drivers of the change we propose."
The National Youth Policy will articulate and regulate several initiatives developed by sectors in favor of young people. It will guarantee the exercise of youth rights, with
equal opportunities and access to services, as well as their effective participation in the decision-making of the country.
Its main objectives are to reduce discrimination against vulnerable young people, improve comprehensive health care, encourage citizens' participation, access to decent work, reduce victimization, and develop competences in the education process.
