17:26 | Moquegua (Moquegua region), Dec. 24.

President Martin Vizcarra on Monday expressed confidence Congress and other institutions will support the work of the High-Level Commission aimed at creating proposals to implement the political reform in Peru.

"They will gather information from diverse political groups and specialists in order to elaborate the most suitable proposals. I think that finally all institutions, including Congress, will back those initiatives," the top official told La Republica newspaper.

Likewise, he urged newly-elected regional and local authoritieswho will begin their terms in office on January 1, 2019— to work for the Inca country's well-being and fight corruption

"We have said this before. All institutions must strengthen the fight against corruption. For that reason, the people who work towards that goal must be supported," President Vizcarra stated.

"The Prosecutors who work on the Lava Jato case and issues of great relevance should be supported by their own institutions," he added.

It must be noted the Head of State has traveled to his hometown —southern Moquegua region— with the purpose of celebrating Christmas with his family there. He also sent season's greetings to all Peruvians on the occasion.
