Peru President highlights political parties' willingness to strengthen institutions

The President of the Republic, Martin Vizcarra, on Monday highlighted the willingness of the political parties called for dialogue with the Executive Branch to improve the institutions and governance of the country.

During a meeting with regional governments and provincial municipalities to articulate the strengthening of the Haku Wiñay Program, the Head of State indicated that the round of dialogue with the political parties to be represented at Congress has begun.

"Everyone shows willingness to improve institutions, improve and strengthen democracy, (as well as) the governance that is fundamental," he expressed.

The top official said there are eight political parties that will participate in the dialogue and he hopes that the party which announced it would not participate in the meetings can change its mind and attend.

Previously, after participating in a meeting with ambassadors at the Foreign Affairs Ministry, the statesman noted there are political and judicial reforms in the process of approval, so he call for joining efforts.



The new 130 legislators will serve the remaining period of the 2016-2021 legislative tenure, following the dissolution of Congress.
