Peru President expects political-judicial reform to be completed by next Congress

13:20 | Lima, Jan. 13.

Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra on Monday said he hopes the political and judicial reform will be completed by the next Congress members, who will be elected on January 26, stressing it is necessary to have a strengthened and representative democracy, which builds trust among the population.

According to the Head of State, although progress has been made on reforms, these have not been completed yet. Thus, it is important to finish the pending work.

Under that premise, the top official informed he will meet with the Political Reform and Justice Commissions this week, in order to verify the level of progress and how it can be granted a boost by the new Congress.

Likewise, the statesman affirmed he expects citizens to elect candidates who will truly represent them at Parliament.

"Let us have a Congress with which, once its members take up duties, we will be able to interact for the benefit of common projects geared towards the population," Mr. Vizcarra emphasized.

The event took place at the Economy and Finance Ministry (MEF) headquarters in Lima.
