Peru President meets with APP party members

10:28 | Lima, Feb. 3.

Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra met with representatives of Alianza Para el Progreso (Alliance for Progress) party at the Government Palace in Lima on Monday.

Thus, the round of meetings with the parties —to be part of new Congress— has begun.

Such meetings are aimed at boosting a joint work agenda for the benefit of the country.

Last Sunday, the Head of State affirmed that the recent extraordinary elections —held on January 26— marked the beginning of a new stage in the country, since their results show the commitment of Peruvian citizens to dialogue.

In this sense, the top official indicated that the Executive Branch would meet —between Monday and Wednesday— with eight of the nine parties that passed the 5% threshold and —consequently— will have representation in the new Parliament.

The new 130 legislators will serve the remaining period of the 2016-2021 legislative tenure, following the dissolution of Congress.
