Peru President asks not to politicize education

10:43 | Huanta (Ayacucho region), May. 6.

President Martin Vizcarra asked not to politicize education in Peru and considered "unacceptable" that this issue has been used as an excuse to attack his administration.

According to the Head of State, the Executive Branch opts for a comprehensive education with principles, that not only provides intellectual knowledge, but also promotes mutual respect between men and women

Likewise, the top official informed that his administration will build over 1,000 educational institutions in the Inca country in 2019.

Furthermore, he underlined the importance of teaching mutual respect and gender equality to national students

On the other hand, the statesman stressed the Executive Branch does not wish to close Congress.

"This Government's wishes are progress and development, not confrontation. While some seek confrontation, we seek progress, development, and joint efforts," he added.

Remarks were made during the supervision of works aimed at improving educational infrastructure.
