Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra on Wednesday used social media to salute workers on International Workers' Day and underscored their role as real drivers of growth and productive development in the country.
Via Twitter, the Head of State noted that his Government is working hard to
ensure decent jobs and incomes, as well as better living conditions for all Peruvians.
"On this Workers' Day, we want to recognize the efforts and contributions of those who are the real engines of growth and productive development in the country," reads his post.
"This administration works day after day to secure decent
jobs and incomes, as well as better living conditions for Peruvians," he added.
Some 16,776,500 people across Peru will celebrate International Workers' Day today, a 1.6% increase compared to 2017 (16,511,000 people), National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) reported.
According to INEI's National Household Survey (ENAHO), employment in urban areas accounted for 77.5% (or 13,008,700 persons) of total employment, while that in rural areas made up 22.5% (or 3,767,800 persons).
