The active participation of citizens in the extraordinary parliamentary elections of Sunday, January 26, is a way of strengthening democracy, the President of the Republic Martin Vizcarra said on Thursday.

Three days before the elections, the Head of State called on citizens to vote because the election of Congress representatives is not only an obligation but also a commitment and a citizen responsibility.

"Therefore, we will generate a Congress identified with the population and their needs, which works jointly with the Executive Branch. I am sure that in the year and a half of functions —which is also the deadline to complete functions as the Executive (Branch)— together we will complete the political and justice reform," he stated.

Remarks were made to the press from La Libertad region, where he supervised —together with Minister Ariela Luna— the social programs offered by the Ministry of Social Development and Inclusion (Midis).
