Fin Min calls for closing social gaps in Peru at CADE 2019

13:15 | Paracas (Ica region), Nov. 29.

Peruvian Economy and Finance Minister Maria Antonieta Alva on Friday called on entrepreneurs —who participate in the Annual Conference of Executives (CADE-Executives 2019)— to address the urgent need to close social gaps in the country.

"I am convinced that, just as we agreed —in the 1990s— that market economy and macroeconomic stability were key to snapping out of the catastrophe we were facing, now I would like to ask you to add the urgent need to close social gaps into our demand to improve competitiveness," she said.

Alva noted that her administration has three objectives: maintain macroeconomic stability, boost competitiveness, and pervade a sense of urgency in closing social gaps.

"I am aware of the importance of macroeconomic stability, but I am convinced that social and political objectives —that our country pursues— can be met without putting aside the stability we have achieved," she said.

During her presentation at CADE-Executives 2019, the minister remarked that dialogue between public and private sectors effectively contributes to improving the country's competitiveness.
