The Peruvian Government is 100 percent certain that the referendum on political and justice reforms will take place this December, Prime Minister Cesar Villanueva affirmed Wednesday.
The pace of talks at Congress is reasonable and goes
according to the schedule, Villanueva told reporters at a press conference following the weekly Council of Ministers' session.
He went on to add Justice and Human Rights Minister Vicente Zeballos on Tuesday attended Congress' Constitution and Regulation Commission session to address the proposed constitutional reforms.
Likewise, Minister Villanueva thanked Congress parties' willingness to support the consultation process.
The initiative aims at allowing citizens to voice their opinions on matters linked to political and judicial spheres.
The four constitutional reforms submitted by the Executive Branch are related to parliamentary re-election, the bicameral parliamentary system, political parties' private financing, as well as the
National Council of the Magistracy (CNM).
As is known,
former CNM members were implicated in a series of audio recordings revealing corruption in the Inca country's judicial system.
