Peru opens first multi-brand store in China

15:03 | Beijing (China), Nov. 6.

Peru has recently inaugurated its first multi-brand store "Tienda Casa Peru" (Peru Home Store) in Beijing —with the purpose of promoting the Inca country's Superfoods, alpaca clothing, and jewelry, among other products— in the Asian Giant.

The facilities are located in Sanlitun, one of the city's most important commercial and fashion centers.

Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Rogers Valencia pointed out this initiative represents Peru's new trade promotion stage in China.

"This store is the outcome of an alliance between the public and private sectors. This was possible thanks to the Foreign Trade and Tourism Ministry (Mincetur), the Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru), and 15 Peruvian companies," the official expressed.

The inauguration was attended by China Federation of Urban Commercial Outlets Construction Administration (Cuco) President Xuan Chunlei, World Link President Huang Zhaohui, Peruvian Ambassador Luis Quesada, PromPeru Exports Director Luis Torres, and Peru's Trade Office (Ocex) Director Teresa Mera.

As is known, the Peru-China Free Trade Agreement was signed on April 28, 2009, and came into force on March 1, 2010.

It should be noted the Asian Giant has become the Inca country's top trade partner in the world.

Great Potential

According to Minister Valencia, there is great potential to continue expanding exports. In this sense, products such as coffee, cacao, chocolates, shrimps, trout, blueberries, and quinoa, among others have a great opportunity ahead.

"We have three Peruvian trade offices in China. They are located in Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong," he added.

CIIE Fair

Furthermore, the Mincetur representative —alongside an Inca nation's delegation— arrived in the Asian Giant to participate in the China International Import Export (CIIE) event.

Peru was invited by the hosting country's President Xi Jinping
