Peru implements strategic plan to expand business with China

11:51 | Beijing (China), May. 24.

Peru relies on a strategic plan aimed at boosting non-traditional exports to China, attracting more investments, and increasing the number of Chinese tourists visiting the Inca country, Peruvian Ambassador to Beijing Luis Quesada informed Thursday.

"The Chinese market is very big, and there are many business opportunities for Peruvians. The sky is the limit here," Quesada told El Peruano official newspaper.

In addition, he recalled China —besides being a world power— is Peru's main trading partner and mining investor.

Within this context, the diplomat stressed the Peruvian Government has set several goals for 2018 in order to expand its business with the Asian giant.

More fairs —such as Peru Moda and Expoalimentaria— will be held in China this year to promote alpaca garments and accessories, as well as value-added products in the food and beverage sector, Quesada noted in this sense.

Investments

On the other hand, the Ambassador commented that State-run Private Investment Promotion Agency (ProInversion) has successfully concluded the Roadshow Asia 2018 in Beijing.

The said event promoted investment opportunities in infrastructure and services.

"Economic forecasts suggest there will be good years ahead, and we expect investments to increase," the Peruvian envoy pointed out.

"Peru is more interested in attracting Chinese investors to agroindustry, metal-mechanic, technology, and other sectors," he added.
