A new batch of 700,000 vaccines against COVID-19 from China’s Sinopharm laboratory landed in Peru on Wednesday evening.

A KLM aircraft delivered the cargo at Lima's Jorge Chavez International Airport.

This batch will enable the Peruvian State to continue with the process of immunizing citizens against the pandemic nationwide.

The shipment was received by Health Minister Oscar Ugarte, who was accompanied by the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China, Liang Yu, on the occasion.

Both dignitaries supervised the arrival of this cargo and compliance with the cold chain.

Within this framework, the Health minister indicated that these vaccines are safe and will serve to strengthen the immunization process in the South American country.

Another 300,000 doses will arrive on Saturday, thus completing the latest batch of 1,000,000 doses purchased from the Chinese laboratory.

The Cabinet chief stressed that the vaccination campaign is progressing at a good pace, adding that there is also a decrease in the number of deaths among people who have received the vaccine.
