Peruvian Prime Minister Violeta Bermudez on Wednesday reported more than 4,000,000 doses of the vaccine against COVID-19 have been administered nationwide, which is a great advance in the fight against the pandemic.

Within this framework, the high-ranking official indicated that the immunization campaign is progressing at a good pace across the national territory,
adding that there is also a decrease in the number of deaths among people who have received those doses.

"The vaccination (campaign) continues to advance in accordance with the schedule; yesterday, we exceeded the 4,000,000 administered doses; approximately 80% of people aged above 80 have already been vaccinated in the country," she told reporters.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister said that speed in the immunization process was increased, adding that as more vaccines are received, a greater number of older adults can be immunized in the national territory.

The head of the Ministerial Cabinet also said that vaccination-related information can be accessed in real time through the official platforms run by the Health Ministry, such as the Pongo el Hombro (I Lend a Shoulder) platform.

Remarks were made during a press conference held at the Government Palace in Lima.
