Valencia also revealed that work is underway to improve the trade agreement with China, Peru's main trading partner, as well as to optimize the treaty with neighboring Brazil.
"With Brazil, we have a trade agreement that has worked very well. Our trade with Brazil has grown to $5 billion. It is still in deficit because we buy more from Brazil than we sell to it," Valencia remarked.
"But it is important that we begin selling logistics services to Brazil, and we are in the process of improving that agreement," he added.
Meanwhile, the Mincetur head said negotiations are underway to reach a trade agreement with India, which he described as "the largest market nowadays."
The Cabinet member indicated that Peru should continue boosting its services exports, as well as other sectors that can generate significant revenue, such as convention tourism.
"Translation, logistics, and call center services are provided from Peru. Peru must make the most of its geographic location. We must continue promoting convention tourism, not only in Lima but also in Arequipa, Cusco, and the north, where there are convention centers," he pointed out.
