The Lima Group has reaffirmed its support for Venezuelan Interim President Juan Guaido's decision to find a solution to his country's crisis and reaffirmed its disagreement with the human rights violations committed by the illegitimate regime of Nicolas Maduro.

In this sense, the Foreign Affairs Ministers of Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, and Venezuela renewed their support for Guaido.

Likewise, the group underlined his unwavering leadership in the fight to regain democracy through free, fair, and transparent elections, as well as to end the usurpation of power.

Furthermore, it indicated the solution to the crisis belongs to the Bolivarian nation's citizens.

On the other hand, the Foreign Affairs Ministers agreed to boost the creation of mechanisms —aimed at assisting the documentation and investigation on corruption, drug-trafficking, and human rights violations— to other States committed to restoring democracy in Venezuela, such as the European Union and the United States.

It also denounced the candidacy presented by the illegitimate regime for a seat at the United Nations Human Rights Council

In addition, the officials decided to support the request submitted by Guaido, so a delegation of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights visits his nation.

The Lima Group, of which 14 countries are members, was created in the Peruvian capital in August 2017 with the purpose of finding a solution to the crisis in Venezuela.
