Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday congratulated Keiko Fujimori on her election as President of Peru.
Within this framework, Xi said he stands ready to work with Fujimori to steer the comprehensive strategic partnership to new heights.
In a congratulatory message, the Chinese president said China and Peru are comprehensive strategic partners.
He added that bilateral relations maintain good momentum for development, including frequent high-level exchanges, fruitful practical cooperation in various fields, and people-to-people friendship that enjoys deep public support.
The Chinese leader noted that this year marks the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Peru.
Xi also said he attaches great importance to the development of China-Peru relations, the State-run Xinhua News Agency reported.
The congratulatory message comes after Peru’s National Elections Board (JNE) on Friday proclaimed the Popular Force Party leader president-elect for the 2026-2031 term, after she defeated Roberto Sanchez in the runoff by a margin of 49,641 votes.

Likewise, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi warmly congratulated Keiko Fujimori on her victory in Peru’s presidential election.
