has presented some of the achievements —thru the end of May— in assistance channeled via USAID for Peru's
—a project that began in April 2020 and is scheduled to continue until April 2021.
"The United States stands together with Peru to face the COVID-19 pandemic. So far, our support —through USAID Peru— amounts to US$13 million. We will continue to advance and expand this aid,"
Deputy Chief of Mission Denison Offutt said recently in a Facebook post.
Likewise, it was made up of US$415,000 in previously-announced Migration and Refugee Assistance's (MRA) humanitarian support for the COVID-19 response for refugees and host communities.
US$3 million came from the previously announced International Economic Support Fund (ESF) for addressing the economic impact of COVID-19 and preventing backsliding on shared, top-level development and security issues —including the fight against illicit drug trade.
Additionally, US$2.5 million was allocated for previously-announced health assistance to provide technical assistance and training in surveillance, the prevention and control of infections in health facilities, risk-communications, and community engagement.
