With a brief gratitude ritual dedicated to Wiracocha -god in the pre-Inca and Inca mythology- the municipality of Ancahuasi, in the province of Anta (Cusco), made the official launching of the third edition of the staging of Killarumiyoq Raymi or cult to "Mama Killa" (mother Moon), the Sun’s wife.

Inca ceremony -to take place on August 29- will gather 300 artists that, besides from evoking the Moon, will carry out rituals dedicated to agriculture, fertility and water at the archaeological complex of Killarumiyoq, located 46 kilometers from the city of Cusco.

During the launching, held at the National Institute of Culture (INC) in Cusco, it was reported that direction and organization will be in charge of the cultural association Filigranas Peruanas. Edmundo Qosqo Cusirimay will star as the Inca.

Cusirimay will be accompanied by young farmers and students from five educational centres of the area.

Mayor of Ancahuasi Ubaldo Kuncho Rimachi highlighted that the main ritual will be at the Killarumi, a half moon shaped bas-relief sculpture with 7 steps, which symbolize the seven colors of the rainbow.

According to archaeologist Mario Sanchez Macedo, the complex of Killarumiyoq was built by Inca Tupac Yupanqui, son of Pachacutec, and has a watershed that comes from the sacred mountain Soqomarca.
