Peru's Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru) has welcomed the work and initiative of regional authorities and municipal mayors in Junin and Pasco —two regions that this week received the Safe Travels Stamp bestowed by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC).

This stamp certified both places as safe destinations to travel during the resumption of tourism activity.

The Central Jungle (Junin) and Oxapampa (Pasco) Destinations together host 47 attractions, routes, and circuits, which already comply with the health and biosafety protocols that will enable travelers to better enjoy their visit to this area of the country.

"We congratulate the work carried out by those involved in the process to earn this stamp. We know this has been the result of joint and articulated work, which will be a source of inspiration for more destinations to join the responsible and safe reopening of tourism for all," PromPeru's Tourism Director Maria del Sol Velasquez stated.

"Precisely, the Central Jungle and Oxapampa Destinations meet the characteristics that new travelers are looking for: outdoor destinations and spaces to connect with nature," she added.

Indeed, only in Junin's Central Jungle, the recently certified tourist attractions (19) include lagoons, natural pools, waterfalls, botanical gardens, as well as visits to native communities in the region, which will promote the development of nature tourism, experiential tourism, and ecotourism.

On the other hand, the Oxapampa Destination includes 6 routes and/or circuits: Villa Rica Route, Chontabamba Route, Yanachaga Chemillen Route, Oxapampa Route, Pozuzo Route, and Huancabamba Route, which are ideal for cultural, nature, gastronomic, and adventure tourism.

"Definitely, the Safe Travels Stamps will not only boost travelers' confidence but will also provide the ideal scenario to promote and attract private investment to regions," PromPeru's Business Investment Promotion Director Daniel Cordova remarked.
