The President of the Republic, Jose Jeri, on Wednesday expressed the government's firm commitment to decentralization and to addressing the needs of Ayacucho region, which is a priority for the current administration.

The Head of State delivered this message in his speech during the national flag-raising ceremony at the Historic Sanctuary of the Pampa de la Quinua in Ayacucho region.

"Today, at this historic site where the independence of Peru and South America was sealed, my government expresses its firm commitment to decentralization and to addressing the needs of our beloved Ayacucho region," Jeri stated.

"Ayacucho is history, it is the present and the future. Ayacucho is a priority for this government; therefore, there will be no reason or circumstance that will divert us from our primary objective of fostering its progress and development," he added.

The President arrived in the region accompanied by Ministers Vicente Tiburcio (Interior) and Cesar Diaz (Defense).

Within this framework, the top official said they will continue visiting region by region to learn about their needs and understand the challenges facing each of their districts.

"This is part of the challenge we face as a government, but beyond being a transitional administration, it is a responsibility as Peruvians to have the capacity to recognize those in front of us and those by our side. We are with you as a government, working for you; let us build a better country," he expressed.

The President said that, with the national flag raising at the Historic Sanctuary of the Pampa de la Quinua, a symbolic and genuine gesture was made to convey to the country "that we are here to build citizenry and homeland."

"Because one of the most important responsibilities we have as Peruvians is to be better citizens, to set an example for our children, and to forge a true national identity. Let us continue honoring our national symbols to lay the foundations of a country that truly has a future," he added.

He also stated that Peru is striving to become a country free of corruption, with equal opportunities, one that builds consensus through dialogue, and that "will never back down against the common enemy, which is crime."
