President Vizcarra: South Korea will support Peru in the fight to contain coronavirus

12:26 | Lima, Apr. 6.

South Korea will provide scientific and technological support to Peru in the strategy implemented to contain the advance of coronavirus (COVID-19) in the Inca country, President Martín Vizcarra affirmed on Monday afternoon.

The Head of State reported that he had spoken with South Korean President Moon Jae-in for more than 20 minutes last Sunday and exchanged experiences in managing the coronavirus pandemic.

"There is a commitment to support with the data on how the disease evolved in order to use it as a benchmark for the measures we are taking," he expressed.

In this sense, the top official said that there will be support to face the pandemic from the scientific and technological points of view.

The statesman also pointed out that last week he had spoken with the President of China Xi Jinping with whom he had coordinated the support of that country for the exchange of experience —with equipment and accessories.

Moreover, Mr. Vizcarra recalled that both China and South Korea have responded very well to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Initially set to last from March 16 to 30, the measure has been extended thru April 12.

On this occasion, the President was joined by members of the Council of Ministers. The event was held at the Government Palace in Lima.

Monday marks the twenty-second day of mandatory social isolation.
