President Vizcarra: Coronavirus cases rise to 2,561; 997 have recovered in Peru

President Martin Vizcarra on Monday afternoon confirmed that coronavirus (COVID-19) cases have increased to 2,561 in Peru —out of a total of 20,414 samples taken.

Thus, 17,853 citizens have tested negative.

Within this framework, the Head of State explained that the current rate of positive cases stands at 12.5% of the total samples.

Likewise, the top official informed that 387 patients are hospitalized, of whom 89 are connected to mechanical ventilation at Intensive Care Units.

Furthermore, the leader mentioned that 92 people have died from COVID-19 to date.

On the other hand, the statesman stressed the fact that 997 citizens have already been discharged.




On this occasion, the President was joined by members of the Council of Ministers. The event was held at the Government Palace in Lima.

Monday marks the twenty-second day of mandatory social isolation.
