The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo visited the Consulate General of Argentina in New York City to participate in the opening of the exhibition "ESMA, Argentine Memory for the World - Heritage of Never Again."

This visit took place on Monday within the framework of his official activities prior to the General Debate of the 77th Session of the UN General Assembly.

At the invitation of his Argentine counterpart Alberto Fernandez, the Peruvian Head of State toured the facilities along with Ministers Cesar Landa (Foreign Affairs), Roberto Sanchez (Foreign Trade and Tourism), and the Permanent Representative of Peru to the United Nations Manuel Rodriguez Cuadros.

It should be noted that the ESMA Memory Site Museum, based in Argentina, is a candidate for the World Heritage List of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

The exhibition depicts the events that took place in the Argentine Republic during the period of terrorism due to crimes against humanity, which aim to provide evidence of the process of struggle achieved in democracy in order to access justice, according to the Argentine Government.

The event also featured Consul General of Argentina in New York Santiago Villalba and Permanent Delegate of Argentina to UNESCO Marcela Losardo.
