President of the Republic Keiko Fujimori Higuchi highlighted that her administration is striking a heavy blow against criminal organizations and affirmed that she will continue to intensify efforts to combat crime.

With her first 100 days in office approaching, the President underscored the initiatives undertaken by the Executive branch in the fight against public insecurity.

“A full assessment will come at the 100-day mark, but what I can say is that we are striking a heavy blow against criminal organizations,” President Fujimori emphasized in statements to the press following a groundbreaking ceremony for the José María Arguedas Educational Institution in the district of Santa Anita.

Furthermore, the President highlighted the collaborative work between the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC), the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the Peruvian National Police (PNP), and the Armed Forces to combat illegal communications originating from within penitentiary facilities.

“We have succeeded in taking down antennas at four prisons. This is an initiative that has begun with great momentum,” she noted.

She also highlighted the work of the Unified Command, pointing out that the actions taken against criminal activity have led to significant arrests.

“We will continue with this effort,” she assured.

Preparedness for El Niño

Additionally, the Head of State noted that another priority for her administration has been preparing for the effects of the El Niño phenomenon.

In this regard, she mentioned the clearing of riverbeds for the country’s major rivers and called on the public to participate in prevention efforts.

“This is a collective preparation effort,” she stated, while also expressing gratitude for the private sector’s collaboration in these tasks. President Fujimori emphasized that her administration is advancing initiatives in the sectors of Education, Health, Housing, and Water and Sanitation, with the goal of reactivating stalled projects and improving public services.

“These are, in a sense, initiatives that we are unblocking. We have encountered thousands of stalled projects, and we are working to secure funding, bring these projects to fruition, and inaugurate the completed works,” she stressed.

Finally, she also acknowledged that there are aspects of the government’s administration that need improvement.

“Undoubtedly, there are things that need to be improved, and that is what we are working toward,” she noted.
