The President of the Republic, Jose Jeri,on Friday stated that Peru's borders must be respected. Therefore, he announced that an Extraordinary Council of Ministers will be convened to declare, as announced, a state of emergency, reinforcing the Armed Forces' efforts in border surveillance.

"Similarly, the National Superintendence of Migrations and the National Police will intensify identity checks to ensure the safety of our fellow citizens," he said in a message shared via social media.

One of the priorities of President Jeri's government is the fight against organized crime.

Specifically, Prime Minister Ernesto Alvarez noted that the fight against citizen insecurity and crime is the central focus of the Executive Branch.

In this regard, the government indicated that migration operations will be intensified.

By December 2025, 4,000 operations will have been carried out effectively as part of migration control into Peruvian territory.

Thus, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs plans to strengthen partnerships to coordinate the joint fight against transnational organized crime.
