The
President of the Republic Dina Boluarte affirmed the new Talara Refinery, located in Peru's northern region of Piura, will ensure the production of clean fuel to meet domestic demand, and will avoid depending on hydrocarbon imports.
During a technical visit to the refinery on Thursday, the Head of State remarked that this public work strengthens Peru's energy policy, as it increases its processing level by 45% from 65,000 to its maximum capacity of 95,000 barrels per day.
"In a context marked by the increase in the price of fuel, this public work mitigates the risk of shortages because it will allow for increased production of clean fuels to meet the domestic demand," the dignitary underlined.
Likewise, the country's top official stated that the plant will process heavy crude oil from the jungle, stimulate oil production, and contribute to the closure of potable water gaps since it will donate up to 2,000 cubic meters of this resource, thanks to the installation of a desalination plant.
The Head of State remarked that the Ministerial Cabinet is working in unity and remains strong to respond to the needs of the country.
Moreover, she asserted that the Government will not give in to political blackmail, which attempts to throw the country into disorder.
