The contribution of the Armed Forces is essential in the fight against crime, President Jose Jeri stated during the graduation of ensigns and second lieutenants at the Military School Colonel Francisco Bolognesi in Lima's Chorrillos district on Monday.

"Today, our country is waging a frontal fight against crime. In this task, the contribution of the Armed Forces is essential for the success of the combined forces, composed of the National Police and Serenazgo (municipal security units)," he stated.

The Head of State said his government is fully aware of this reality. Therefore, it works continuously to strengthen the armed forces and dignify military life.

In this regard, the top official recalled that last weekend a pension increase for Armed Forces members was approved, as a fair recognition of those who have dedicated their lives to defending the country.

"Our commitment is to each one of you and to the fight against crime," he reiterated.

Before members of the "Heroes of Chavin de Huantar Military Operation" class, President Jeri said the Peruvian Army represents one of the cornerstones of the Armed Forces, an institution essential for the defense of sovereignty, the preservation of constitutional order, and the protection of national unity.

"Graduating from this military school is not only the completion of a demanding stage of training, but also a conscious and voluntary commitment to the nation. This commitment is reflected in the name of your class: Heroes of Chavin de Huantar Military Operation," he stated.

As part of the ceremony, President Jeri —who is the Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces and the National Police— presented the Sword of Honor to Second Lieutenant of Intendancy Iskra Rondon. She ranked first in the overall merit list over the five years of training.

He administered the oath of honor to the members of this class as well.

Upon his arrival at the Chorrillos Military School Colonel Francisco Bolognesi, the Head of State was welcomed by Defense Minister Cesar Diaz, and Army General Commander Cesar Briceño.
