On the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly session,
met with Colombian Vice President Jose Manuel Restrepo.
During the meeting, the importance of the reciprocal appointment of ambassadors was highlighted as a step toward ushering in a new phase of cooperation and trust between Peru and Colombia.
The meeting also addressed the upcoming Presidential Meeting and Seventh Binational Cabinet Meeting, scheduled to take place in the city of Barranquilla in December.
The aim is to agree on an agenda focused on concrete actions and tangible results for the well-being of both countries' citizens, particularly those living in border areas.
President Fujimori and Vice President Restrepo reaffirmed their commitment to regional integration through the Andean Community and the Pacific Alliance, whose Pro-Tempore Presidencies Peru will soon assume.
They prioritized achieving their founding objectives and generating development opportunities that will enable both countries to comprehensively address the security challenges they share.
Moreover, the high-ranking officials discussed efforts to strengthen cooperation in the fight against transnational organized crime and the development of communities along the Amazonian border.
In particular, the importance of strengthening cooperation against threats affecting border areas along the Putumayo River was highlighted, as was the commitment to continue fostering development and cross-border integration initiatives in the area.
