has the task of appointing 80,000 contracted teachers and assistants for basic and productive technical education across the country.
Within this framework, he highlighted the commitment of all those teachers who made and make possible the complete return to face-to-face classes for initial, primary, and secondary schoolchildren —after two years of the start of COVID-19 in Peru.
"This year, our
minister (of Education) has the task of appointing 80,000 teachers nationwide. We have also delivered grants for schooling to more than 185,000 contracted teachers and assistants for basic, as well as productive technical education, throughout the country," Mr. Castillo indicated.
"During this quinquennium, we have to reassess the teaching career, and here is my commitment so that this five-year period becomes the quinquennium of education," he added.
The top official affirmed that educators are fundamental servers for the development —not only of children but also of their communities and the Peruvian State in general.
Similarly, the Head of State asked teachers from all over the country to work with the
Ministry of Education on crafting the curriculum for pupils.
"Today, I call on each one of you to be active participants in the task that we have entrusted to the minister, so that the new curriculum is crafted along with (the support) of teachers," he said.
Moreover, Mr. Castillo reminded citizens that the Government is committed to closing the gap in educational infrastructure, which amounts to S/111 billion (about US$28.786 billion).
"The people are aware that there is a tremendous gap to bring the major problem of educational infrastructure to an end, (it amounts to) S/111 billion. From the State, we must make an effort to start to erect the school (building) where you work," he pointed out.
The event was held at the Government Palace in Lima.
