Peruvian Prime Minister Violeta Bermudez reiterated the Government's commitment to building a more inclusive country, with the participation of all involved parties.

According to the Cabinet chief, this is an initiative of vital importance.

Remarks were made during the establishment of the multisectoral commission that will propose and oversee the implementation of measures aimed at the development of indigenous peoples.

"In this context of democratic transition, the establishment of this commission sends a powerful message to the new government, so that it takes into account the approaches and responses to the needs of indigenous peoples," she said.

The multisectoral commission is made up of 11 sectors and 7 nationwide indigenous organizations, which will ensure mechanisms of coordination with public entities that provide services to the indigenous population.

The setting-up of this permanent working group was described as a historic event by Culture Minister Alejandro Neyra, who noted that it lays the foundations to continue working for the development of said population.

The heads of the indigenous organizations agreed that the multisectoral commission will create a permanent space for dialogue and planning, as strategic allies in order to provide input.

The establishment of this commission included the participation of Ministers of Development and Social Inclusion, Women and Vulnerable Populations, Energy and Mines, Justice and Human Rights, among other authorities.
