The trip that
President Dina Boluarte recently made to Brazil to participate in the Amazon Summit allowed Peru's protection policies for the Amazonia to be given a more humane face,
Prime Minister Alberto Otarola affirmed on Wednesday.
The Cabinet chief said the Head of State's participation in the event was quite successful, in addition to highlighting the important meetings she had held in Belem do Para.
The government's spokesman reiterated that said trip also meant the return of Peru's presidential diplomacy by contributing to strengthening the country's interests at the international level.
The prime minister stressed that President Boluarte "has had remarkable leadership," promoting the thesis of an "Amazon with humane face."
This consists of "new schemes to improve the health, education, and well-being of our Amazonian population," he specified.
Otarola pointed out that the signing of the Declaration of Belem implies "an Amazon alliance against deforestation."
The Cabinet members deemed as "an anecdote" the fact that Peru Libre (Free Peru) party notified the Prosecutor's Office that the presidential trip to Brazil was posing a "flight risk."
The press briefing was held following a Council of Ministers session at the Government Palace in Lima.
