The high-ranking official added that international tourists recognize Peru as a diverse destination, as a place of interest.
"They (tourists) don't say it just because they liked Peruvian cuisine or a particular place, but because they visit us regularly and share their experience," he remarked.
Perspective
In the case of domestic tourism, the ministry's idea is to register 43 million trips.
"These are moderate scenarios, but we are evaluating performance every fortnight to get to know what needs to be boosted in order to improve results," Mathews stated.
To this end, different types of tourism are also being promoted, such as those linked to digital-nomads, meetings, film destinations, bird watching, among others, he added.
