Peruvian Luz Mery Rojas on Sunday qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games at the Seville Marathon in Spain, where she clocked 2:26:47.

Thus, the athlete has become the fourth Peruvian marathoner to secure a quota for the next Olympics.

The champion of the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games, Luz Mery Rojas, managed to set the minimum mark of 2:26:47, which earned her 20th place at the Seville Marathon.

As is known, World Athletics —the highest world athletics body— required a time of 2:26:50 to qualify for the Paris 2024 Games.

Thus, Mery Rojas joined Gladys Tejeda (2:26:26), Jovana de la Cruz (2:26:49), and Christian Pacheco (2:07:38), who have already secured Olympic quotas.

The winner of the men's race, Ethiopian Derese Geleta, clocked 2:03:36, thereby setting a new record.

The podium also featured French Morhad Amdouni (second place) and Israeli Gashau Ayale (third place).

They both broke their national records, with 2:03:46 and 2:04:52, respectively.
