Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Javier Gonzalez-Olaechea has invited United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders' Summit, which will take place in Lima this November.

Via social media, the Cabinet member shared an image of him alongside the senior U.S. government official.

On the post, the minister emphasized that both, as authorities, share goals to strengthen democracy, regional security, and foster development.

"Thank you for your warm welcome, Secretary Antony Blinken! We share goals to strengthen democracy, regional security, and foster our development," Gonzalez-Olaechea stated via X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday.

"Dear Antony, I await you, along with the entire United States delegation, with all cordiality in November for the APEC Leaders' Summit," he added.

On the occasion, Minister Gonzalez-Olaechea expressed his energetic defense of democracy across the hemisphere.

In that regard, the Peruvian Cabinet member pointed out that "it is not possible to accept any type of coercive violence in the region."

The high-ranking official noted that Peru condemns in the strongest terms the attacks on democracy in the United States.

Minister Gonzalez-Olaechea also referred to the construction of democracy and the need to grant it a social dimension, as well as the aspiration for peace to prevail and for wars not to prolong around the world.
