Peruvian Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister, Ambassador Ignacio Higueras, and United States Senior Official for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), Ambassador Matt Murray, inaugurated the fourth multi-sector training module titled: “Fourth APEC capacity building module: Supporting Peru's 2024 Host Year.”

The training was aimed at strengthening the capacities of 50 Peruvian officials in techniques for drafting and negotiating documents linked to the main deliverables of APEC PERU 2024.

Experts from Chile, New Zealand, and the United States participated in the session.

It must be noted that this module has been organized by the Peruvian Foreign Affairs Ministry in cooperation with the United States Department of State, within the framework of the U.S. Support for Economic Growth in Asia (US-SEGA) program.

During the event, Deputy Minister Higueras underscored the positive impact that previous training programs provided by US-SEGA have had on the development of the priorities and projects that our country has been preparing for its APEC PERU 2024 Presidency.

Thanks to the cooperation provided by the United States since July 2022, four multi-sector training modules have been held to date, which are aimed at strengthening the skills of Peruvian officials so that they can take up the duties to be performed during the APEC PERU 2024 Presidency.

The event took place in the Peruvian capital, Lima, on Thursday.
