The Inti Raymi, Cusco's emblematic Festival of the Sun, was showcased in all its splendor, dazzling appeal, and mysticism in China before travel, luxury, and lifestyle media outlets, as well as digital content creators and opinion leaders from the Asian country.

In the city of Shanghai, the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism (Promperu) presented a staging of the traditional Cusco ritual in China for the first time.

The presentation was held in coordination with the Municipal Company for Celebrations and Tourism Promotion of Cusco (Emufec), whose cast performed the reenactment.

The setting was the historic Beaufort Terrace at Yu Garden, a venue representative of Shanghai's cultural tradition.

This event was held within the framework of ITB China, one of Asia's most important tourism platforms, bringing together more than 900 companies from the sector and 1,700 specialized buyers.

The aim was to create an immersive experience positioning Peru as a destination where living history, ancestral culture, internationally-recognized gastronomy, extraordinary biodiversity, and high-end travel experiences converge.

Diversity of destinations

During the event, guests also discovered the diversity of experiences Peru offers, from the historical and culinary heritage of Lima and Cusco to the biodiversity of the Peruvian Amazon and luxury and wellness offerings in destinations such as Arequipa and Puno.

Likewise, the activity helped strengthen strategic ties with key media outlets and digital platforms in the Chinese market, amid growing interest among travelers from the Asian country in authentic, cultural, and personalized destinations.

Visitors to the Peruvian stand at ITB China will also be able to interact with the characters of the Inca and the Coya, symbolic representatives of Inti Raymi, further strengthening Peru's cultural presence in the Asian market.

China is the leading source market of Asian tourists to Peru.

In 2025, Peru received 54,470 visitors from this market, representing 11% growth compared with the previous year.

In 2026, this positive trend has continued, with 17,952 Chinese tourists registered through March, reflecting a 26% increase compared with the same period last year.
