Peru's Bicameral Congress: Senators sworn in for 2026-2031 term

The senators-elect of the Bicameral Congress for the 2026-2031 term were sworn into office during a session led by the Board of Congress' Preparatory Committee, chaired by Senator-elect Miguel Angel Torres Morales.

The session was held in the Senate Chamber of the Republic.

The ceremony began with the reading of Senator Miguel Torres' credentials, after which he was sworn into office. Fernando Rospigliosi administered the oath of office.

The other senators serving on the Board of Congress' Preparatory Committee were then administered the oath of office.

Fernando Rospigliosi Capurro was the second to be sworn in, following the reading of his credentials accrediting him as a senator.

Alejandro Muñante was also sworn into office. 

The remaining senators were then called in alphabetical order, beginning with Alejandro Aurelio Aguinaga Recuenco.

Earlier, Congress' Preparatory Committee for the 2026-2031 parliamentary term was installed and declared itself in permanent session.
