Peru's Ambassador presents credentials in Costa Rica

The new Peruvian Ambassador to Costa Rica, Juan Jimenez Mayor, presented his credential letters to the President of said country, Rodrigo Chaves Robles.

The ceremony took place at the Costa Rican Government headquarters on Friday, the Peruvian Foreign Affairs Ministry has reported.

Afterwards, the Ambassador met with the hosting country's Head of State to thank him for the recognition by Costa Rica of President Dina Boluarte's Government, after the political events of December 2022, as well as for the support granted to Peru for accession into the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

Furthermore, the new envoy expressed Peru's interest in continuing to strengthen the bilateral relationship with Costa Rica, as well as in maintaining a high level of regional and multilateral dialogue, plus cooperation.

Return to the international community

Ambassador Jimenez Mayor affirmed that Peru is in a new stage, in which "we are back" in the international community.

He argued that this is witnessed in the accession process to the OECD, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Pro-Tempore Presidency to be held by Peru, and the participation in summits of Amazon Countries and the Pacific Alliance.

For his part, President Chaves Robles thanked his counterpart for the invitation to visit Peru. Similarly, he highlighted the Peruvian economy's strength.

He also expressed his desire to strengthen ties of friendship and cooperation between both countries.
