Peru's Ambassador presents credentials to U.S. President Biden

Career diplomat Gustavo Meza-Cuadra on Friday presented to U.S. President Joseph R. Biden his credentials as Ambassador of the Republic of Peru to the United States of America.

On this opportunity, the U.S. Head of State and the Peruvian envoy reaffirmed both countries' willingness to strengthen their bilateral relationship.

In fact, President Biden and Ambassador Meza-Cuadra agreed on the importance of strengthening cooperation in favor of social development and the fight against poverty.

Similarly, they talked about continuing to increase trade and investment between the two countries.

Today's event was held at the White House in Washington D.C.

Last February, diplomat Gustavo Meza-Cuadra was designated as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Peru to the United States.

Trade

The U.S. is a trading partner of the greatest importance.

It is the main destination for Peru's non-traditional exports, which in 2022 grew 14% compared to the previous year, reaching more than US$4 billion.

Peru and the United States signed a trade promotion agreement —also known as a free trade agreement— in April 2006. It entered into force in 2009.
