The presidential debate between candidates Keiko Fujimori (Fuerza Popular) and Roberto Sanchez (Juntos por el Peru) will take place this Sunday, May 31, at Lima Convention Center. It will be organized by the National Elections Board (JNE).

Learn about the topics the candidates seeking to lead the country starting July 28 will address.

JNE's National Education Director Carlos Vilela reported that the four topics agreed upon by the working teams are:

- Citizen Security
- Strengthening of the Democratic State and Human Rights
- Education and Health
- Economy, Employment, and Poverty Reduction

"The presidential debate will begin at 8:00 p.m. at Lima Convention Center so the population can learn about the government proposals both parties have for the new administration," Vilela told the JNE Media platform.

Regarding the format, the official explained that a mixed methodology will be applied, featuring a time pool for each candidate to present their positions on the four topics.

Likewise, the format will include an opening dialogue segment between the candidates based on a citizen question.

Vilela said he expects this format to allow for a fluid dialogue between the candidates.

He added that it should be used to present the technical arguments behind their government proposals.

Journalists Angelica Valdes and Carlos Villarreal will moderate the debate.

Participate and Decide

The "Participate and Decide" campaign began on May 20, aiming to encourage citizens to submit their questions for the presidential candidates.

The questions must be related to the four debate topics. One question will be selected for each topic.
