Peru students in eastern Ucayali region broke Guinness World Record for the largest chocolate tasting on Friday morning.
Held at Faustino Maldonado School in rainforest Pucallpa City, the event involved 797 students from local universities, institutes, and schools.
The challenge was to bring the largest possible number of people together to taste three types of chocolate, one after another.
Participants tried three chocolate bars: the first one —a bitter-like chocolate— contained 70% of cacao paste, the second one 50% of cacao paste, and the third one 35% of cacao paste and milk.
This new title beats the previous record which was achieved in Venezuela with 419 participants.
According to USIL University Founding President Raul Diez Canseco, this achievement seeks to promote awareness about Peruvian cacao —a natural resource well accepted in international markets.
