Peru: Traditional exports totaled US$50.935 billion, up 44% through July

Traditional exports totaled US$50.935 billion between January and July this year, a 44% increase compared with the same period in 2025, the Peruvian Exporters Association (Adex) reported.

According to its July 2026 Export Report, traditional shipments accounted for 80.2% of total exports recorded in the seventh month of this year.

Adex highlighted mining as the leading activity, with shipments totaling US$46.283 billion (+49.2%) thanks to higher sales of raw copper and gold, which together accounted for 64.8% of demand.

Other sectors

Hydrocarbons (whose shipments grew 28.4%) and agriculture (0.4%) followed.

The main destinations for traditional exports were China (which accounted for 46.1%), India, Canada, the United States, and Switzerland.

Value-added exports

Meanwhile, value-added exports totaled US$12.586 billion, representing a 2.5% increase compared with the same period in 2025 (US$12.277 billion).

They accounted for the remaining 19.8% of total exports.

The standout sectors were agribusiness (with shipments totaling US$6.017 billion), chemicals (US$1.536 billion), fisheries and aquaculture (US$1.443 billion), iron and steel (US$1.372 billion), apparel (US$669.8 million), non-metallic mining (US$563.3 million), metalworking (US$418 million), textiles (US$305.7 million), miscellaneous (US$190 million), timber (US$40.9 million), and jewelry (US$31 million).

The leading export item was avocado (US$1.128 billion), followed by fresh grapes, frozen giant squid, blueberries, refined copper wire, other copper sheets, mangoes, natural calcium phosphates, cocoa beans, and unwrought zinc, among others.

Regarding destinations, the United States was the leading market (27.9% of the total), followed by the Netherlands (9.4%), China (6.7%), Chile (6.4%), and Spain (5.2%). Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Brazil, and South Korea completed the top 10.
