FIFA has approved a request from Peruvian Soccer Federation (FPF) thus allowing the Inca country to host the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup, FPF Secretary-General Juan Matute informed on Friday.
This way, Peru will host said mega event for the second time. The first occasion took place in 2005.
At that time, the red-white team did not manage to win any of the three matches it played. Within this framework, the U-17 Peruvian squad drew with Ghana (1-1), lost to China (0-1) and Costa Rica (0-2).
Mexico became the competition's champion after having defeated Brazil (3-0) in the final match.
On that occasion, Infantino received a report —from FPF President Edwin Oviedo— which detailed the reason why Peru should become the hosting nation.
