The Northern Pacific Health Network —in coordination with the Peruvian Navy, the National Police of Peru and the Provincial Municipality of Santa— implemented the
Territorial Aid Operation for Treatment and Isolation in Response to COVID-19 (Tayta Operation) by conducting house-to-house visits in the northern city of Chimbote, in order to detect new COVID-19 cases.
On this occasion, a total of 272 households in the shantytown of Miraflores Alto were visited, 71 people were screened, 6 of whom have tested positive for COVID-19.
The patients who were infected received treatment under medical prescription. In addition, they will be monitored by phone —by health personnel— to track their evolution and avoid complications in their state of health.
On February 1 and 2, Santa's staff carried out the registration of beneficiary households in 61 blocks within this town, in order to identify people over 60 years of age and with severe disabilities, and —thus— submit the information to the
Ministry of Health (Minsa) and the
Peruvian Navy.
The Tayta strategy is intended to detect COVID-19 cases in a timely manner, especially among the most vulnerable groups.
By doing so, it seeks to avoid health complications and overwhelming the local health care system.
