Peru reaffirms commitment to dialogue and cooperation at 9th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting

On the occasion of the 81st United Nations General Assembly session, the 9th Ministerial Meeting between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the Pacific Alliance was held in New York City on Tuesday.

Foreign Affairs Minister Carlos Espa was part of the Peruvian delegation.

The Peruvian government official reaffirmed the country's commitment to deepening dialogue and cooperation with the Asia-Pacific region.

Additionally, the Cabinet member said Peru has been an ASEAN development partner since 2024 and will assume the Pacific Alliance's next Pro-Tempore Presidency.

In this strategic setting, the countries from both blocs reaffirmed their commitment to multilateralism, rules-based trade, and integration.

They also agreed to boost cooperation in areas such as trade and investment, tourism, sustainable development, and education, with a view to defining a 2027–2031 work plan.
