The Public Ministry (Prosecutor's Office) has reported that it will present arguments on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in support of a request for an 18-month travel ban against National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) former Chief Piero Corvetto, as part of an investigation linked to the April 12 General Elections.

Via its official channels, the Public Ministry (Prosecutor's Office) specified that the request was submitted by the Supraprovincial Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (First Office).

In addition to Corvetto, the measure has been requested for Jose Samame, Juan Phang, Juan Alvarado, Hilda Otoya, William Garcia, and Lilia Flores, who are being investigated for the alleged crime of aggravated collusion.

According to the information provided, the investigations point to alleged steering in the contract awarded to Servicios Generales Galaga S.A.C., the company in charge of distributing voting materials.

Irregularities

This case stems from logistical irregularities recorded during the April 12 General Elections.

As previously reported, Corvetto submitted his resignation as ONPE head, which was unanimously accepted by the National Justice Board (JNJ).

Previously, the Judiciary had rejected the request for preliminary detention.
